In the Christmas season, the city of Tokyo is brilliantly illuminated by Christmas lights (called illuminations). There are romantic settings, lights shows, and various other beautiful styles you have to see! Here are some of the best Christmas lights spots in Tokyo not to miss!
Roppongi Hills
The LEDs on the trees of Keyakizaka Street right behind Roppongi Hills Arena are shining like stars in a galaxy. Looking down from the top of a pedestrian bridge close by, you can see the orange glowing Tokyo Tower emerging from the sea of lights. If you visit Tokyo in winter, don’t miss it!

Tokyo Midtown
The annual Christmas lights show “Starlight Garden” is very futuristic and creative. A fantastic 4-minute show using about 190,000 LEDs will be held every 12 minutes.

The lights at the “Starlight Road” right next to the venue are spectacular, too. If you look at the beautiful sight from one of the restaurants, this must be sooo romantic!

Caretta Shiodome
All Disney fans gather to watch the Christmas lights show of Caretta Shiodome. This year’s theme is “Arabian Night”. The trees in the square light up and change color to the beats of the movie soudtrack from “Aladdin”. Walking around the square and taking photos is a lot of fun. This is a great spot especially when travelling with children.

Illuminations are held until Valentine’s Day so you might get the chance to see it even if you come to Japan after Christmas. Photos from last year’s Beauty and the Beast themed illumination.
Period: Currently being held, until February 14, 2020
