Fall is in full swing! Gorgeous autumn foliage spots in Tokyo

Fall is here! It is peak foliage season in Tokyo. It is good to know that even in central Tokyo, there are many places where you can enjoy this beautiful season and the gorgeous autumn foliage. These are 7 places for “autumn leaves viewing” ー from famous spots to hidden gems!

Nezu Museum

Nezu Museum, which specializes in East Asian art, is a beautiful museum designed by famous Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. The wonderful Japanese garden of this museum is full of trees wearing beautiful autumn colors. Enjoy a walk in the park or glaze at the beautiful nature seen from the large windows of the cafe in the garden. The view is exceptional!

Shiba Park

Shiba Park is a big park near Tokyo Tower. In this park, you can take photos of the beautiful autumn landscape together with Tokyo Tower.

Aoyama Cemetery

The alley that crosses Aoyama Cemetery is lined with cherry trees. The reddish and orange leaves of cherry trees in fall look completely different from the bright yellow leaves of ginkgo trees. The best way to enjoy the cherry tree lane is to ride a (rented) bicycle through the tunnel of autumn leaves!

Arisugawa-no-miya Memorial Park

A park with a waterfall and koi pond in the Hiroo area which is known as the embassy area of Tokyo.

Meiji Jingu Gaien

The avenue with bright yellow ginkgo trees lined up like candles on a cake is a “fall masterpiece”!

Shirokanedai Platinum Street

Shirokanedai is an area with fashionable cafes, restaurants and shops lined up along the famous “Platinum Street” – just like the ginkgo trees that line the street.
This area isn’t as crowded as the ginkgo tree avenue at Meiji Jingu Gaien. Therefore, it’s a hidden gem!

Tokyo Midtown

The period during which you can enjoy the autumn foliage of the cherry tree is very short which makes this view very special!

“Sakura-dori Street”, which is lined with a 200 meters long row of cherry blossom trees, is gorgeous in spring, but also beautiful in fall!
