What’s your image of Tokyo in winter?
During winter, Tokyo turns into a sea of lights. In this article, I will introduce you the best Christmas and winter events held in Tokyo!
Christmas lights, called “illumination” in Japan, can be seen everywhere in the city – and they are really magical! Recently, some illuminations are also presented in a spectacular light show. For example, this year’s theme of the Caretta Shiodome illumination show is “Disney”. No need to say that this show is very popular among the locals.
Also, the illumination of Tokyo Midtown is worth a visit. This year, the “Space” themed show has been upgraded with bubbles!
Roppongi Hills holds a real German-style Christmas Market every year. Here, you find Christmas decorations and goods, as well as delicious German drinks and sausages! Since a lot of foreigners live in this area, both Japanese and foreigners gather here which makes the atmosphere very unique. Prost!
If you want to try some fun winter activities, you should visit Akasaka! In front of the TBS television station, a big skating rink will be open for a limited time during winter. At night, the skating rink turns into a romantic ice dance floor with slow music. Let’s dance!
What type of winter event do you enjoy the most? Did you find a place you would like to visit?
We wish you a merry Christmas and happy holidays!
