TOKYO STROLL: A visit to Shirokanedai

In Shirokanedai, Tokyo, you can find two facilities with amazingly large and green parks: the ‘Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum’ and the ‘Institute for Nature Study, National Museum of Nature and Science’.

Visit an Art Deco Villa!

A visit to the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum grants you a glimpse of a Japanese royal family’s residence and the cutting-edge lifestyle of Tokyo ー 90 years ago. Discover the rare Art Deco style furniture and interior design as you explore the villa!

Usually, the villa’s curtains stay closed but for this exhibition, they are open! Therefore you get the chance to see the building with the same natural lighting the Asaka family saw it in their daily life.

Don’t miss the vast garden, which is divided into 3 areas with different styles! Have a look at the tea room in the Japanese garden or lie on the lawn of the western garden!

A forest of refreshment!

The “Institute for Nature Study” is an educational garden with untouched nature. That’s very rare, especially in central Tokyo. You don’t have to travel far away. The Institute for Nature Study allows you to observe animals such as insects up close while being surrounded by beautiful flowers of the season. The vast park has deep forests, grasslands, ponds, and streams.

For nature preservation reasons, only 300 people can enter the park at the same time, so it never really gets crowded! A stroll in the large park will refresh your body and mind!
